I had to comment on the wooden hanger thing - no, you are not alone. I switched ours over a few years ago, when my now husband and i moved in together...and of course i had him do the same. sure, he doesn't care. but especially when i'm doing the laundry and ironing and spending more time in our closets then he does...i want pretty hangers to look at! It just looks more organized I think. i need to purge as well. it's HARD. good for you. Happy first to you!
