new things

the birds are back. spring is around the corner, i can feel it. yesterday, about 200 robins showed up in my back yard, and picked a holly tree clean. i was standing at the kitchen sink when i looked out to see bird after bird after bird fly in and land. so i ran outside with my camera, pretending i was a national geographic photographer, and started snapping some pictures. it was so odd- it was actually snowing, and cold and just icky. and these robins? they were on a mission. wings flapping right over my head, i could almost feel it. i just stood there for a few minutes, listening to all the activity and for the first time, i felt like YES, this long winter is coming to a close.
