just for a moment

i am going to pretend that i'm somewhere sunny.

Gulls with the sound of sea birds in the air.

Gulls2

Saltwaters where i can go for leisurely walks in my salt water sandals.

Sunkissed1 and let the ocean breeze move across my slightly sunburned shoulders.

Sunkissed2 i will watch my sweet baby doze off under the beach umbrella.

Sunkissed3 and look at my son and know that he is as happy as happy gets.

Sunkissed4 i will remember how amazing it is to have a baby crash out in my arms after a long day of playing in the sun and sand.

Sunset1 and i will think of sunset dinners right on the ocean.

HappyKids i will hear that happy laughter from my children.

SharkShack and taste one the most amazing meals i've ever had in my whole life.

BabyontheBeach i will remember what it's like to go for evening walks along the beach and watch that baby girl zip and zoom and squeal and laugh and explore to her heart's content.

Eveningwalks i will imagine what it's like to not be wearing 2 tshirts and a wool sweater, jeans, knee socks and a scarf inside.

Pelicans1 but instead, i will remember a moment when i was lucky enough to be alone in the ocean with a flock of feeding pelicans.

Pelicans2just me and about 30 hungry birds.

Pelicans3

because right now, it is so very, very different out there. it's grey and cold and covered in a blanket of snow and ice. and it just doesn't seem like it's ever going to end.

i am off to make a brand new purchase: a snow shovel. because after getting hit with 30 inches over christmas, and then getting another 6 this weekend- well, i'm just not going to be caught without one ever again. it's snowing on top of snow right now, and they're calling for a big storm this thursday through sunday.

so be warned. should this weather continue much longer, my next step will be to don a straw hat + shades and sip hot chocolates with paper umbrellas while listening to tiny bubbles on my record player. because seriously? all this winter weather is starting to make me just a leeeeeetle bit crazy.

oh, what a marvellous post Jenny!!!!!! in every way, really! it’s been snowing all day here in Berlin, too, and it seems impossible that in less than 2-3 months it will be completely O V E R, everything will turn green and shiny and new and alive…
still, it’s such a long way to spring…
    take care, stay warm :)

Great photos and thoughts that conjure up a time that seems worlds away. Another suggestion for escaping somewhere warm in your mind: put on pungent sunscreen, the smell alone is enough to make me giggle with anticipation of the impending season change (even if it is months away).
Thanks for the fun, colourful, and inspiring posts. I’ve been enjoying them from afar.

oh this is such a lovely post.
how about we swap places for a week? you can have my sun and i’ll talk your snow. milo and nick have never ever seen snow so i know they’d enjoy it. and my freckles are getting a bit too dark for my liking from too much sun this summer so i know they’d like a break.
i can guarantee you lots of green grass for a change because it’s been raining here for a few days. the beach is beautiful and the sky is blue!

Love that mental image at the end…I hear ya! No snow in Austin, but the rain and cold are driving me batty. I’ve been looking up beach resorts all day on Expedia!
