collections :: vintage children’s books

another collection to share with you all. this one is ever growing. i find tons of inspiration in these amazing books from the 50s, 60s and 70s. the colors and the illustrations are just tops.
these pictures are from just one set that i have. i would guess that i’ve got, oh, 100 or more books right now that i just love, love, love. where do i get them? mostly, i find them in the book bin at the good will. yard salesĀ  are also a very good source. it’s often a toss up for me when i walk in the great big doors of the goodwill: should i hit the dress rack first, or the kid’s book bin? dresses win out about 8 times outta 10, but the book bin almost never disappoints. and how could it at 35 cents a book?

    How fun! I’m always on the lookout for pre-1980 Little Golden Books. They’re usually 10 cents at one of my regular thrift store stops. I’ve got quite a stack of them now.

    Can you tell me who the publisher is on the series in the photo? It looks familiar to me…
    Thanks!

    I have two of the books from this set that I cut up (gasp!) and use to make greeting cards and decopauge. I didn’t know there were so many! Cute!

    My kids had a book in the ’80′s with a green smiley face fingerpuppet that fit through a hole that went through all the pages in the book. I think it was willy or willie the worm, but I’m not sure, nor of the title. And the book may have been shaped like an apple, but I’m not sure of that, either. It is NOT the one on Amazon that says it’s a green YARN. This was a usable attached fingerpuppet. Does anyone know of this book?? Thanks!
